Southend Collegians Sunday Make a Statement with a 5-0 Win Over Eversley Athletic

After a difficult start to the season, with one defeat and an unlucky draw, our Sunday squad headed into the third league game determined to turn things around. Facing no easy opponents in Eversley Athletic, we knew it was time to make a statement—and that’s exactly what we did!

Despite being hit by multiple injuries to key players, we still fielded a strong squad of 13 capable lads who were ready for the challenge.

The first 15 minutes of the game belonged to Eversley Athletic. They controlled the ball well and had us defending in numbers. It seemed like the game could take a disappointing turn, but we remained composed, held firm, and slowly began to find our rhythm.

Our patience and resilience paid off, and we went into halftime deservedly 1-0 up.

In the second half, the confidence in our squad was clear. We continued to communicate brilliantly, pressuring Eversley and dominating the game. With a real sense of belief on the pitch, we piled on the pressure, and the goals started to come in waves.

Rick Marsh led the way with a brilliant brace, including a stunning overhead kick that was easily the pick of the goals 👀. Callan Tierney and Telmo Valerio also got on the scoresheet to help secure a resounding 5-0 victory.

It’s difficult to single out any one player as every lad out there gave it their all and then some. It was a complete team performance from start to finish 💪.

This was the performance we needed to get our season back on track, and with the fight and hunger shown by the squad, we’re looking forward to building on this momentum.
