Southend Collegians End of Season Awards 2024

Southend Collegians recently held their much-anticipated end-of-season awards evening, a night dedicated to celebrating the outstanding achievements and unwavering dedication of our players.

 

The event was hosted by our esteemed Club Chairman, Bob Ormston, who presented the awards to the deserving winners. Each team presented three core awards: Player of the Year, Top Goal Scorer, and Most Improved Player. Additionally, special recognition was given to players who have achieved significant milestones in their appearances for the club, including 200 appearances, Goalkeeper of the Year, and Clubman of the Year.

 

Below is the full list of winners from the evening:

 

Saturday First Team Awards


Player Of the Year: Jake Andrews

In his first season with the club, Jake's consistency and skill in midfield saw him play all 17 matches.


Top Goal Scorer: Ollie Cox



Scored 8 goals in 15 matches, showing impressive finishing and poise.


Most Improved: Farai Murwgi



Joined mid-season and made a significant impact in 10 matches, contributing greatly to the team's success.

 

Saturday Reserves Team Awards


Player Of the Year: Karl Anderson



A reliable presence throughout the season with 18 matches and 3 goals.


Top Goal Scorer: Shane Wesley



Netted 13 goals in 18 matches, leading the team's offensive efforts.


Most Improved: Tom Dorili



Played 19 matches, showing remarkable development and dedication.

 

Saturday A Team Awards


Player Of The Year: Massimo Salamini



Versatile and dependable, Massimo played 21 games across various positions, including centre-back, full-back, and goalkeeper.


Top Goal Scorer: Callum Saunders

Scored 9 goals in 11 matches, a remarkable feat in a team that often struggled to create chances.


Most Improved: James Ball



Known for his high energy and effort, James filled in at centre mid or right mid as needed.

 

Sunday Team Awards


Player Of The Year: Zac Munro

As captain and centre-mid, Zac led by example.


Top Goal Scorer: Zac Munro

Demonstrated his scoring prowess with 13 goals in 18 matches.


Most Improved: Tom Hill

Scored 9 goals in 12 matches, showing significant progress and impact.

 

Veterans Team Awards


Player Of The Year: Perry Pearman



In his first season, Perry utilized his speed and skill as a winger to great effect.


Top Goal Scorer: Paul Bantick

An incredible season with 24 goals in 17 matches.


Most Improved: Chris Core

Scored 12 goals in 18 matches, showing great improvement and consistency.

 

Special Recognition Awards


Clubman Of The Year: Antony Moule



As the club’s communications secretary, Antony has been instrumental in managing the website and social media, and also serves as captain of the A team.


200 Club: Simon Harris (joined 2006), Massimo Salamini (joined 2007), Stacey Taberner (joined 2009)



These players have shown remarkable commitment and longevity with over 200 appearances each.


Goalkeeper Of The Year: Lee Dawkins

Kept 3 clean sheets, the most of any goalkeeper at the club, showcasing his reliability and skill between the posts.

 

The awards evening was a true celebration of the spirit and dedication that defines Southend Collegians. Every winner, and indeed every player, has contributed to our club's community spirit.

 

As we look forward to the next season, we carry with us the pride of our accomplishments and the motivation to achieve even greater heights. Congratulations to all our award winners and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported and been part of our journey this season.
