Match Report: Southend Rovers (S) Firsts vs Southend Collegians (S)

Updated: Feb 27, 2023

Southend Collegians Sunday team secured a rousing 8-1 Cup victory away to Southend Rovers (S) Firsts, a team they have become very familiar with having played them a week ago in the league.

If Collegians’ 4-1 victory at home against Rovers in the league last week was impressive, then an 8-1 victory at the opponents stomping ground this week is outstanding! The SCFC lads knew that Rovers would be looking for revenge but dumbfounded their opponents with a new and unexpected formation.

The away side cruised ahead with three quick-fire goals from Zac Munro, Perry Osborne, and Conor Lewis-Tully, but also suffered injuries to two key players just before half-time.

The second half continued just as the first finish, with Southend Collegians (S) dominating the ball and territory. They further deflated their opponents with an additional two goals from the prolific Conor Lewis-Tully who secured yet another hattrick this season.

The game continued to go Southend Collegians’ way, with Rick Marsh, Lewis Gunner, and Perry Osborne adding to the goals later in the match. Despite scoring eight goals, some might argue that Collegians could have finished the game with even more on the scoresheet.

After the match, SCFC (S) manager Dan Phillips said:

“Just want to thank Southend rovers for the last two weeks games and look forwards to meeting you guys in the league again, good luck with your season lads.”

Dan also added:

“My lot put in an awesome performance, long may that continue.”
