Southend Collegians FC were unfortunately unable to secure a spot in the Sceptre Sunday Division 2 Final after losing 0-1 to Rayleigh FC in the semi-final match on Sunday.
The match started off slow, with Southend sitting deep and inviting pressure from the opposition. Although the game only saw a limited number of shots, Rayleigh was able to capitalise on one of them with a well-placed 25-yard shot into the top corner.
Despite the setback, Southend regrouped in the second half and came out with more determination, controlling the game and putting pressure on Rayleigh. Unfortunately, the team was unable to convert their opportunities, with Perry Osborne having a couple of close calls for the equalizer. Unfortunately, the game ended in a loss for Collegians.
The match serves as a reminder that to succeed, a team must be on their game for both halves. Despite the loss, the club can take pride in the effort and determination displayed by the players who will look ahead and continue to work towards their goals for the next season.
