Southend Collegians Vets secured a rare victory away from home yesterday at Rayleigh Town Vets Reserves in a crucial relegation battle. With a squad of 14, they came out of the traps fast and dominated most of the first half, going 2-0 up after about 30 minutes. They had one goal against the run of play just before half-time.
In the second half, they went 3-1 around the hour mark but Rayleigh Town Vets Reserves managed to get one back, making the score 3-2. Southend Collegians Vets made some substitutions to get some fresh legs on and held out well, not really troubled in the last 10-15 minutes of the game.
It was a good win for Southend Collegians Vets, and they avenged a 0-1 loss at home against Rayleigh Town Vets Reserves. The team played some decent passing football at times and created a lot of chances, with the number of near misses making it hard to keep count. They hit the woodwork at least four times.
It was a nice sunny morning, and Southend Collegians Vets had a good outcome. Next week's fixture is going to be tougher as they face Nicholas Colts in the Div 3 Cup Semi. Nicholas Colts are currently second in the league, so Southend Collegians Vets will have to bring their A-game to progress further in the competition.
